This Privacy Policy explains how Ohana Jamaica Limited, trading as EduJA ("EduJA", "we", "us", "our"), collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use eduja.org and our learning platform (together, the "Service"). It applies to students, parents/guardians, teachers, and visitors, wherever you're located — including Jamaica, the UK, and the EU.
EduJA is operated by Ohana Jamaica Limited, a company registered in Jamaica (2020), based at 41 Barnett Street, Montego Bay, Jamaica. For data protection purposes, Ohana Jamaica Limited is the "controller" of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at myeduja@gmail.com or WhatsApp +1 (876) 772-4422.
We rely on the following legal bases (as recognised under UK/EU GDPR) for processing your data:
We don't sell personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run EduJA (each processes data under their own agreement/safeguards with us), including:
We may also disclose data where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of EduJA, our users, or others.
EduJA is based in Jamaica, and several of our service providers process data in the United States, the EU/UK, or elsewhere. Where personal data of UK or EU users is transferred outside the UK/EEA, we rely on the safeguards those providers themselves put in place — such as Standard Contractual Clauses or, where applicable, the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
We keep account and academic data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you return. Financial/transaction records are kept for up to 7 years to meet standard accounting and tax obligations. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' own retention settings. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time — see "Your rights" below.
EduJA serves students in Grades 7–12 — roughly ages 12 to 18 — some of whom are children under applicable data protection law. Where a child is below the age at which they can legally consent to an online service on their own (13 in the UK; 13–16 depending on the country in the EU), a parent or guardian should create and manage the account on the child's behalf, and is responsible for reviewing this policy and agreeing to it. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal data without your consent, contact us at myeduja@gmail.com and we'll address it promptly, including deleting the data where appropriate. Our AI study-help features (see "Who we share data with" above) are built to send only quiz/question content to our AI provider, Groq — never a student's name, email, or any other identifying information, and any AI-drafted practice questions are reviewed and approved by a teacher before ever being shown to a student.
If UK, EU, or Jamaican (Data Protection Act, 2020) law applies to you, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, email us at myeduja@gmail.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time and may need to verify your identity first.
Deleting your account: visit our dedicated Delete My Account page — it explains exactly what gets removed, what we're legally required to retain, and how to request it. This works whether or not you can currently sign in.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encrypted connections and access controls — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep your data safe and to respond quickly if anything goes wrong.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example as EduJA adds new features or expands to new regions. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we do, and for significant changes we'll make a reasonable effort to let registered users know.
